Liwily Notes Privacy Notice
Liwily Notes is a notes app that runs on your device. This notice explains what data it uses, where it stays, and what leaves the device, and only when you decide.
1. The essentials
- Your notes, folders, recordings, images, documents and books are stored on your device.
- We have no servers that receive your notes. There are no Liwily accounts.
- We use no advertising, no analytics and no cross-app tracking.
- Nothing leaves the device unless you turn on a feature that needs it: sync, artificial intelligence, crash reports, or sending a diagnostic report. Each is explained below.
2. Who is responsible
LIWILY LABS, S.A.S., located at Privada Aria No. 100, Int. A, Col. Real Navarra, C.P. 43845, Zempoala, Hidalgo, Mexico, is responsible for the personal data that reaches us through the channels described in this notice.
For any privacy matter, including exercising your rights, write to privacy@liwily.com.
3. What is stored on your device
Notes and their version history, folders, voice recordings, images, documents, books and your settings. That data is yours and we have no access to it. On iPhone and iPad the database uses iOS Data Protection: it is tied to your device passcode.
«Face ID lock» hides your private notes, your deleted notes and your protected folders inside the app, and asks for Face ID to open them. It does not encrypt them: they remain part of your data, your sync and your backups. Face ID is handled by the system; the app never receives your biometric data.
4. Sync (optional)
If you turn it on, your notes travel between your devices through a service you choose and own:
- Google Drive: the app uses only a private app folder inside your account (the «drive.appdata» permission). It cannot see or touch the rest of your Drive files. Sign-in is handled by Google, and Google’s privacy policy applies.
- A folder you choose (for example, in iCloud Drive): the data is stored in that folder, and its provider’s terms apply (Apple, for iCloud).
We receive no copy of what is synced. You can turn sync off at any time.
5. Artificial intelligence (optional)
AI features only work if you set up a provider with your own API key. Today the app supports Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Moonshot (Kimi), DeepSeek, xAI (Grok) and Google (Gemini).
When you use an AI feature, the text it needs (for example, the note or the selected passage) is sent directly from your device to the provider you chose. It does not go through our servers. That provider handles it under its own privacy policy and terms.
Before the first use with each provider, the app asks for your permission and tells you who receives the text. A private note asks for confirmation every time unless you change it. Your API key is stored in the system keychain, on that device only.
6. Features processed on the device
- Text recognition in images and documents (OCR).
- Translation of words and passages in the book reader, with languages the system downloads.
- Reading aloud.
- Transcribing recordings: on iOS 26 or later it is processed on the device.
There is one exception: dictation (the microphone for writing with your voice) and transcription on iOS versions before 26 use Apple’s speech recognition, which may send the audio to Apple’s servers to turn it into text, under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive that audio.
7. The personal data that does reach us
Only in two cases, and both depend on you:
a) Crash reports (optional, off by default). If you turn on «Send crash reports» in Settings → Help, when the app crashes a technical report is sent automatically. It includes the error type, the part of the code where it happened, the app version, and your device model and system version. It does not include the text, titles or files of your notes, your IP address, your device name, or the error message. It is not linked to your identity or used to track you.
b) Diagnostics and support (only if you write to us). In Settings → Help → «Send diagnostics» you can email us a technical log so we can help you with a problem. It includes dates, counts and error types from syncing, meaningless internal identifiers (of notes and devices), the app version, the system version and the language. It does not include the text, titles or files of your notes. You see the email and the attachment before sending, and you decide whether to send it. When you write to us we also receive your email address and whatever you put in the message.
We do not process sensitive personal data. What you write in your notes stays on your device and in the services you choose; we do not see it.
8. What we use that data for
We use it only to:
- Handle your support request and reply to you.
- Find and fix problems in the app.
Both are needed to provide the service you ask for. We have no secondary purposes: we do not use your data for advertising, marketing or profiling, and we do not sell it.
Crash reports are sent only with your express consent, which you give by turning the option on. Diagnostics are sent by you, case by case.
9. Who else is involved
For those two purposes we rely on providers that process the data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), for crash reports, with the data stored in the European Union (Germany).
- Hostinger, which hosts our email, for support messages.
We do not transfer your data to third parties for their own purposes, and we do not sell it.
10. How to limit the use of your data
- Turn off «Send crash reports» in Settings → Help. Sending stops immediately.
- Do not send a diagnostic report, or review the email before sending it.
- Ask us to delete what concerns you by writing to privacy@liwily.com.
11. Your rights and how to withdraw consent
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, and to object to its processing. You can also withdraw your consent at any time.
To do so, write to privacy@liwily.com with:
- Your name and a way to reply to you (the address you write from is enough).
- Something that proves your identity or, if you act for someone else, your authority to represent them.
- Which right you want to exercise and over which data (not needed for the right of access).
- Anything that helps us find it, such as the approximate date you wrote to us.
If you ask for a correction, tell us what needs to change. We will reply within 20 days of receiving your request and, if it applies, carry it out within the following 15 days. These periods can be extended only once, by an equal period, when the case justifies it.
To withdraw your consent to crash reports you do not need to write to us: just turn the option off.
12. Backups
A backup contains all your notes, so before creating one the app asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. If someone picks up your unlocked device, they cannot take your notes away in a backup without getting past that.
The backups you export (.liwily files) are kept by you, wherever you choose. The app does not encrypt them: keep them somewhere you trust.
13. Deleting your data
In Settings → «Delete all my data» you choose what to delete:
- On this device only: deletes everything on this device, including your AI keys, and unlinks it from sync. What is in Google Drive or in your folder is left untouched: if you sync again, it downloads again.
- On this device and every device on your account: deletes this device, your data in Google Drive, and the data on your other devices with that account, each one the next time it connects.
If you sync with a folder you chose (for example, in iCloud Drive), the app does not delete that folder: you delete it yourself from Files or the Finder.
Before deleting, the app offers to make a backup, because it is the only way back, and asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. If the device has none, it asks you to type a word to confirm.
Uninstalling the app deletes what it stored on the device, but not what is in Google Drive or in your folder.
14. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
15. Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, we will publish the new version on this page with its date. If a change affects what leaves your device, we will also say so inside the app.
16. Where to complain
If you believe we did not properly handle your rights, you may turn to Mexico’s Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno (Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance), the authority for personal data held by private parties, under the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties.
